Session type
[edit | edit source]Each Space at Wikimania 2019 will have specific format requests. The program design prioritises submissions which are future-oriented and directly engage the audience. The format of this submission is a:

Description
[edit | edit source]Internet in a Box (IIAB) is a self-contained, inexpensive appliance to provide content and applications in an offline world. It is in use by medical practitioners as well as in schools in a number of countries. This session will explain in non-technical terms how to provision IIAB with content applicable to a given target audience both in terms of subject matter and language. At the end of the session those interested are welcome to participate in a workshop focused on training. They will need their own devices and are welcome to follow along.

Relationship to the theme
[edit | edit source]This session will address the conference theme — Wikimedia, Free Knowledge and the Sustainable Development Goals — in the following manner:
- SDG 3 - Quality Health and Well-being - It is hoped that making a growing range of offline health material available in a low cost format will lead to better health outcomes.
- SDG 4 - Quality Education - Low cost and easily accessible offline educational resources contribute to a quality education.
