Serbian Ministry of Culture supporting GLAM
Description
This is the panel where we want to explore various options in terms of GLAM development. It will focus on Wikimedia Serbia’s cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Information. Ministry is one of the most important institutions in charge of the protection of cultural heritage in Serbia. Our GLAM got bigger after we established cooperation with them. We have the same mission and the only thing we needed to do was to show that to them. We held several GLAM seminars where we gathered GLAMers (representative from different cultural institutions - libraries, museums, archives) and presented them with possible models of cooperation (local and global projects). After that, we started doing Wikipedians in Residence programs with some of these representatives. We’ve got funds for the programs from the Ministry in 2018 and 2019.
We are aware that many chapters and affiliates have problem dealing with closed institutions, but we are willing to start a discussion about these matters, hear other experiences and share our outcomes and future plans.

This session will address the conference theme — Wikimedia, Free Knowledge and the Sustainable Development Goals — in the following manner:
This session addresses the goal Partnerships for the goals. Goal 17 is included to assure that organizations cooperate instead of compete. This is exactly what we’re doing with the Ministry - evolving together and protecting cultural heritage in Serbia.
Session outcomes
At the end of the session, the following will have been achieved: Participants will be familiar with GLAM model in Serbia and they could try to apply it in their own community. But also, we will discuss with other speakers and audience how they do it, we will share successful stories and hopefully come to useful conclusions.

We will be looking for some additional speakers to share theirs GLAM models. Ideally participants should be those how are involved in GLAM Program.

This session is appropriate for filming and sharing under an open license.
