Description
[edit | edit source]Wiki Loves Monuments is the biggest photo competition in the world, thanks to all its national organizers and runs in September. This workshop aims to help national organizers to exchange experiences, work together and help each other out with practical tips and tricks. Organizers of other 'Wiki Loves' competitions are also more than welcome.

[edit | edit source]This session will address the conference theme — Wikimedia, Free Knowledge and the Sustainable Development Goals — in the following manner:
Wiki Loves Monuments is a main event each year in the Wikimedia world, organized in dozens of countries.
Session outcomes
[edit | edit source]At the end of the session, the following will have been achieved: Participants will have their practical questions answered and learned more about practically organizing Wiki Loves Monuments in their country. Participants will connect with organizers from other countries to reach out to.

Session type
[edit | edit source]Each Space at Wikimania 2019 will have specific format requests. The program design prioritises submissions which are future-oriented and directly engage the audience. The format of this submission is a:
- Discussion-based training
- Other
Length of session
[edit | edit source]If other than 20 minutes, specify how long
45 minutes: we will give a short introduction (5-10 minutes), and then go into smaller groups based on themes of questions. Finally, we continue in plenary for more complex issues that involve multiple themes.

Requirements
[edit | edit source]The session will work best with these conditions:
- Room: A flexible space with movable chairs. Some projection option. Flipchart would be great.
- Audience: Based on previous years, 10-20 people. Focus audience is national organizers.
- Recording: Not suitable.
