Abstract & description
[edit source]Abstract
[edit source]Reaching out and communicating about the GLAM Wiki and the Open GLAM movement to GLAM institutions in Indonesia is not easy. The situation is that GLAM Indonesia is not yet digital, does not have an adequate database, does not understand copyright and free licenses, and thought of opening means there will be no more visitors or data theft. This condition makes it difficult to reach out. But GLAM Wikimedia Indonesia must keep moving. I will explain what we do at GLAM Wikimedia Indonesia to invite GLAM to become digital and open their collections. This presentation needs discussion and input from GLAM practitioners for a more effective approach in the future.
Description
[edit source]This 30-minute session is a presentation of GLAM Wikimedia Indonesia’s experience in conducting outreach to GLAM institutions, which are mostly difficult to approach. In this experience we have done several ways that we think can be used as lessons and also need input from those who attend to share with each other for the improvement of GLAM Wikimedia Indonesia in the future. The presentation will be conducted for about 10-15 minutes followed by a discussion of about 15 minutes.
