Abstract

[edit source]

In this session, staff from the Wikimedia Foundation will share plans for supporting moderators (e.g. patrollers, administrators, and stewards) in the upcoming annual plan. We will host an open discussion about your needs and how we can best support you with product investments.

Description

[edit source]

In the Wikimedia Foundation’s annual plan there will be a substantial focus on moderators in the Product department. Teams including Moderator Tools, Anti-Harassment Tools, Apps, and Editing will be aiming to make improvements to the experience of reviewing and curating content on Wikimedia projects. We want to make the lives of patrollers, administrators, and stewards easier and improve moderation workflows.

The Moderator Tools team will invite discussion about content moderation on mobile web, Editing will share information about their ‘Edit check’ project, and other teams will contribute their plans for the next year.

We will then host a discussion about what moderators need on Wikimedia projects. If you’re frustrated by a tool, find a moderation process time consuming, or feel like functionality is missing on your project, come along and share your thoughts!

Qn. How does your session relate to the event themes: Diversity, Collaboration Future?

We would like this session to be a useful knowledge-sharing exercise, both for community members to learn from each other, and for the Wikimedia Foundation to gather a wide range of voices to direct our work in the coming year. As this is the first year that we’ve had a substantial focus on moderators in some time, this will help to guide the future of our work in this space.
