Statistical details and individual scores

[edit source]

Hello,

  • Can I get my scholarship application score?
  • What is the mean, median, standard deviation and the minimum cutoff score per region to qualify? I think that's a reasonable measure of transparency that you need to provide.

I fully agree and would also like to get this information including my own score. Zblace (talk) 09:21, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Gnangarra, would appreciate your reply here. Sdkb (talk) 20:51, 6 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Distribution per country?

[edit source]

Hi @Gnangarra, I saw that historically there were recipients listed per country. Can you provide that data also so it can be compared to previous years? Zblace (talk) 12:42, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Gnangarra I see this is ignored. Thank you! Zblace (talk) 09:49, 11 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

CEE fewer people then Western Europe?

[edit source]

I think it is somewhat bizarre that region 3 times bigger in size, with significantly lover average incomes has fewer people. Also why are Wikimania 2024 organizers treated like any other applicants for scholarships? Should they not be from separate quota? Zblace (talk) 19:19, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

An individuals income has no bearing on the scholarship process. Gnangarra (talk) 09:00, 7 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Gnangarra thank you for stating one fact for 1/2 of remark instead of 2 questions.
This kind of interaction is learning opportunity. Zblace (talk) 09:48, 11 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Like in 2019 there was no special dispensation for organisers of the next Wikimania(at that point it was the 2020 team), everyone was encouraged to apply for scholarships the final decision on 2024 was made after the review processes had started. It is of no surprise that community leaders so invested in the movement that they want to dedicate a significant portion of their lives to hosting a Wikimania do raise towards the top of the applications. I agree that even during a time of financial concerns for the WMF that any identified potential organisers 2024, 25, 26, 27 and beyond should be funded outside the scholarship process. I hope a future budget for the steering committee can be established for this purpose perhaps even consideration for some Steering Committee members being there as well given their role is to oversee Wikimanias and make decisions about future options which currently ironically isnt part of being a member of that committee(I have a COI being a member of that committee). @Gnangarra OK we finally agree over something. Please write in your recommendation for 2024 process and structure. I would support that if inline with solving at least this ridiculous Polish participants situation. Zblace (talk) 08:55, 12 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
The Wikimania 2024 COT are based in the CEE not just from Poland, the future aim is to have regional based COT's to reduce the stress on affiliates. Gnangarra (talk) 09:16, 12 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Gnangarra can you link to who are those? Zblace (talk) 16:00, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
