Description

Open Data Kerala is an inspiring initiative led by a passionate community members who contributes to Wikimedia projects, OpenStreetMap and other open knowledge platforms. Through this initiative many data sets has been curated and published that are related to Kerala and Malayalam language. The initiative covers diverse datasets, including local bodies map data, health, education, and transportation, providing a wealth of information for researchers, policymakers, and the general public. By engaging citizens in the process, Open Data Kerala strengthens democracy and fosters data-driven decision-making. By contributing as well as reusing the data from Wikidata, Wikipedia, OSM projects the community is promoting the reuse of data in several ways.

How does your session relate to the event theme, Collaboration of the Open?

The initiative is led by a community of volunteers who work together to curate and publish open data resources, fostering collaboration and collective ownership. Open Data Kerala embodies the spirit of Collaboration for the Open by bringing together diverse stakeholders to promote open data for the benefit of all, empowering citizens, and fostering innovation. My session relates to the event theme by embodying the principles of open collaboration, knowledge sharing, and collective empowerment.
