2024:Tours and Side Events/Katowice Parkrun

Parkrun is a collection of free 5-kilometre (3.1 mi) events for runners, walkers and volunteers that take place every Saturday morning at more than 2,000 locations in 22 countries across five continents.

Katowice Parkrun takes place in Kosciuszko Park, about 20 minutes on public transport from the Wikimania venue, Katowice International Conference Centre. It has over 100 participants most weeks, and starts at 9am. Just turn up, or register online if you want to receive an official time. https://www.parkrun.pl/katowice/

Saturday 10th August

I (Jonathan Deamer) will be going to Katowice Parkrun during Wikimania. I hope to see some other Wikimedians there! I'm not associated with Parkrun, just someone who tries to enjoy their events wherever I travel.

You definitely don't need to be speedy or super-fit. The events are really friendly and open to all. I'd love to welcome some Parkrun first-timers!

Please add your name below if you hope to attend (along with Strava link, if you use it and wish to share). Depending on interest, maybe we can travel together from the conference center, warmup together, or grab a coffee afterwards etc.

Where to meet

Meet at Silesian Theatre if you want to join me for a warmup, or the Kościuszko Monument in the park itself:

8:15am - I'll be on the steps of Silesian Theatre in Market Square (Google Maps). At 8:20 I'll set off on a slow warmup jog to the park (2.6km).
8:45am - let's meet on the steps of the Kościuszko Monument by the start of the Parkrun course (Google Maps).
